Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
DBT combines cognitive and behavioral therapies with mindfulness to help individuals learn how to tolerate distress, regulate emotions, and develop healthier interpersonal relationships. The therapist is guided by the concept of the Middle Path – balancing meeting an individual where they are at with helping them change how they think, feel, and respond to stress.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR is an eight-phase psychotherapy approach used to treat suffering caused by past trauma. A significant portion of the therapy involves a therapist guiding the client in recalling distressing memories while simultaneously maintaining a connection to the present. This helps desensitize the emotional charge associated with the memories, facilitating their reprocessing and integration of healthier thoughts.
Perinatal Mental Health
A perinatal mental health therapist has formal training relating to planning to welcome a baby into one’s home and to managing the first year after a baby’s arrival. Navigating this transition can come with internal stressors such as depression and anxiety as well as external stressors such as changing relationships and managing childcare.
